LG G2: New Flagship Smartphone in the Mobile Arena
LG Electronics recently announced their newest contribution to the mobile arena, the LG G2. Just like the launch of Samsung Galaxy S4, the new LG smartphone has also created a lot of buzz due to its innovative features and superb hardware portfolio. So before it officially debut this third quarter, let’s inspect the amazing features of this device labeled as “S4 killer.”
The Design
For starters, the G2 packs a bigger screen and a thinner body. Its viewing panel is 5.2-inch, slightly bigger than the S4’s 5-inch display. But what’s interesting about the newbie is its bezel-less look. The screen is pushed to the limits, flaunting only a little space carrying the manufacturer’s branding below the display. LG has also eliminated the physical buttons on the bezel and replaced it with an on-screen Android controls, just like the Google Nexus 4. The volume rocker is placed on the rear side of the phone, seated below the camera.
Available in black and white, the gizmo is also customisable with colorful magnetic covers with a square window that triggers the smartphone to display different types of clock when worn.
One of the main features of the gizmo is its inclusion of a 4G LTE receiver, which allow its users to surf the internet faster with a higher downlink and uplink bandwidth, according to Verizon’s news center. Depending on your location, it can be 10x the speed of the standard 3G connection.
The device also runs with the Android Jelly Bean OS version 4.2.2, which makes it available to be upgraded to the anticipated Android Key Lime Pie.
G2 also has an NFC chip on-board for the new method of cashless payment solution, information gathering and file transferring. The gadget’s screen is also at par with the latest flagship smart devices on the market. It has an IPS + LCD technology with a True HD display and a resolution of 1080 x 1920 or 424 pixels per inch. That’s even higher than the iPhone’s Retina display. It is coated by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, giving it an extra protection for accidental drops.
Hardware
It may not have an 8-core CPU like the international version of the S4, but the G2 packs an otherwise robust Qualcomm 800 Snapdragon processor clocked at 2.26 GHz speed. It is also backed by 2 GB of RAM. Joining the profile is an Adreno 330 graphics enhancements. The Antutu 3.3 system benchmark result is higher than the competing Android devices like the S4, HTC One and Sony Xperia Z. Meaning, gamers and heavy media users will benefit most from the gadget. The G2 also gives 32 GB of internal storage by default.
Camera and Media Capabilities
For mobile photography, the handset boasts of a 13-megapixel main snapper with LED flash. It also has Geo-tagging, face detection, HDR and optical image stabilization functionalities. The camera also shoots 1080p high-definition movies at 30 frames per second. For video calling, the gadget also includes a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera with 1080p resolution as well.
The newbie is set to arrive on the mobile market soon. As you’ve seen it has a supreme portfolio that can compete with the other flagship devices. Do you think it has a chance to dominate the Android arena that is currently reigned by Samsung? We’d love to read your opinions. Share them below this post.
